It is my first wacom sketch.

Sketch of Corey's profile, unfinished.

It is a photo essay.

My photo essay consists of four images depicting things I do in my daily life:

1. Brush my teeth.

2. Make tea.

3. Wash dishes.

4. Sleep.

I chose to edit the images with a thematically mundane color scheme. This was meant to represent the monotony that every day life can sometimes present. To acheive this overall feel, individual colors were desaturated while others were enhanced using curves and levels. Each image has a slightly varied, particular color scheme that I thought was appropriate for the subject. Not too much cropping was necessary in any of the images, however some were slightly rotated and better aligned for a more concise composition. I think part of what adds to the darker tone of these images is the vignetting I applied. While it is much stronger on the image of the bed as opposed to the toothbrush, even the slight darkness around the edges gives the photograph a somewhat dark, trapped feel. This was done through two methods; burning the edges with a large, soft brush and selecting the image with a heavy feathered circle, inverting the selection and decreasing the black point in curves. Although these photographs could perhaps survive as individual shots, I think the edited images are much stronger when grouped together and speak together through their melancholy coloration.

It is a business card.

While I was perusing a list of noteworthy business card designs, this one stood out to me for a handful of reasons. Although initially simply attracted to the use of a fairly non-traditional color, I realized that while I may or may not be acting bias towards the color green it works quite well for the overall impression of this company's business. I would assume by their use of font, color and pattern that this company boasts modern interior decorating with a touch of ornamental or ethnic inspired design. I think for a business card to be successful it has to speak to the audience in many ways exceeding the text that merely states their information. This card achieves this through their use of design and continuity in theme despite the patterns all being different, they work together cohesively. The front of the card is very simple and graphically represents the business while the back provides the information needed in a very aesthetically pleasing manner. The back of the card makes excellent use of blank space on the right side by again insisting another pattern that ties in the black of the chair on the front side and the overall theme together. If I was looking to decorate my home I would certainly consider this company based only on the fact that their design is so effective here, that it must translate well into their work.

It is Corey.

Original image:

Black and White:

I added high contrast to this image by adjusting the levels and choosing a black point that was not a natural black to bring out darker tones in the lighter shades.

Cross Processed:

By adjusting the individual red, green and blue points in curves I was able to achieve an image that appears cross-processed.

My Edit:

This edit was meant to appear softer and highlight the blue and yellow tones of the image. By doing so I hoped to achieve a vintage feel.

It is electricifying.

Electric Squizzle never sleeps. He never has a day off. And he never, doesn't ever put down his guitar. He's the second best entertainer of the sea! Once the kindest octopus of the sea, he has since transformed into an immortal skull squid that spends his days and nights fighting for the title of "Best Sea Entertainment Ever!" While undertaking this personal challenge he also manages to keep the entire underwater community happy and entertained which is a feat in itself. His true fans call him a hero, most call him second best...he hasn't actually written his own song yet but finds doing David Bowie cover songs sufficient. (Which is why the Best Sea Entertainment Ever title annually goes to his nemesis, Glam Skele-Squid Superhero!!!!) He fancies his pink guitar, glitter, when his nemesis gets stage fright and inks, keeping the fish entertained and long walks on the bottom of the sea.
